CSA #7 Single (4-Margin) tied by the small double circle Shreveport, La CDS 1 JUL 1864 (year date is in the CDS). Orange paper cover addressed to Mrs Wm F. Sale, Greenwood, Caddo Parish, La. Cover is underpaid but apparently was allowed to go through without postage due. Underpaid letters were rarely allowed to go through without extra postage due added. Very Fine. Ex-Howard Green. Cover most likely sent by William Fletcher Sale (1825-1905) of Arkansas to his wife. William F. Sale in 1864 was serving as a Volunteer ADC to CSA Brig-Gen James C. Tappan who commanded an Arkansas Brigade in the Trans-Mississippi.
